The Perfect Time For Fabulous Skin...Part 2

In Part 1 we caught up with Julie Brown from The Source Clinic where she provided 4 steps to keeping your skin in tip top condition to prepare the perfect base for make-up. Making this your routine is key!

In this Blog we will move onto incorporating make-up into the skincare routine. We will look at some current make-up trends and the products that you can use to help achieve these looks.

The skin is our base, our canvas to work on so for us to achieve the best results from foundation, concealer and other make-up used on the skin, the skin has to be in good condition and a regular skin care regime has to be in place.

Make-Up trends are created backstage at the international fashion weeks and one of the key trends we see returning season after season is skin.

We are going to give you an insight to these trends and how to incorporate them into your make-up.

‘Doing makeup on a completely bare face is way cooler than a heavily made one.’

At the Chanel show in Paris, makeup artist Lucia Pica created a “heightened freshness” by teaming taps of highlighter on the cheekbones and slicks of gloss on the lips for a preternaturally dewy effect.

One of the brands we collaborate with here at the Academy is Illamasqua. We have created bespoke kits for our Academy course students and for our clients to use when visiting the studio for one of our services.

One of my favourite make-up artists to work with is Pablo Rodriguez, Illamasqua’s Director of Artistry.

Working with Pablo and the Illamasqua team backstage at London Fashion Week is always inspiring and great fun.

‘Hydra Veil is a must when it comes to creating looks for Fashion Week as it hydrates your skin without making it look too shiny.

At shows I like minimum coverage a little bit of concealer here and there, mainly around the nose and eyes instead of using foundation.’

ILLAMASQUA SKIN BASE FOUNDATION

This foundation is super lightweight with a slight sheen, which is perfect to create that “real skin” look.

Foundation doesn’t need to be applied all over the face and the adaptability of this product allows you to achieve whatever finish you would like to the skin.

I like to use this product as a concealer and only use it in the areas that require a bit more coverage such as the centre of the face, the nose and t-zone.

I love applying it with the 1.7 My Ultra Multibrush from MYKITCO. The soft natural fibres of the brush works perfectly with the liquid by blending out the coverage to a sheer finish.

If you prefer a fuller coverage you can build the foundation to a full flawless finish by layering the product.
